Frequently Asked Questions (CONTINUED)

Q: Is the weight lost on the diet ever going to come back?

A: It can, if you aren't careful. The third phase is lifelong, known as the MAINTENANCE phase. That doesn't mean that once you reach it, your work is over. You need to maintain the tactics outlined in the diet, in order to keep your body coping with calories and heart disease optimally. Using the tactic of exercising regularly can help you avoid slipping up in your diet, or any other motivation factor (we've provided several on this site).
Weight loss is not easy, if it was, everyone would be skinny. Being healthy takes work, and will power and dedication. Without them, you are very likely to regress. If you want to keep yourself in shape, you have to put in the work.

Q: I am a vegetarian, can the diet still work for me?

A: Yes it can. You adhere to the same principles as the meat-eater's version, just replacing meats with tofu and meat substitutes and increased egg consumption.

Q: Will the diet prevent me from getting heart disease?

A: Nothing can flat-out prevent heart disease. Having a family history, and more importantly, being obese with or without high cholesterol can lead directly to heart disease. This diet was designed by a doctor whose specialty was this domain. The original plan was to create a diet to properly reduce heart disease related illnesses by eating well. The eating choices and substitutions outlined in the diet are intended to make you healthier, and reduce the negative impact on your body that normal diet can have. So although it cannot prevent the occurance of disease, it can definitely tip the scales in the favour of health.
